The project alternately confronts two models of time description. A first shooting takes place from France using a security webcam of the urban space in the Hachioji neighborhood in Tokyo. A second shooting simultaneously takes place on the spot using a DV camera.
The images shot from France are slow; as Japan is a long distance away, images are only available little by little. Time seems slowed down due to the distance. However, the camera on the spot offers “regular shooting”, as if it could “see better” and the moves of the dancer are more precise. As a result, a set of steps recorded by the DV camera turn into a jump of the performer once captured by the webcam. The choreographic performance allows to describe time with movement.
