A vehicle containing a video camera and GPS records in lateral tracking the 500 km of landscape that pass between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
The scenery that is recreated is the object of distortions resulting from the moving shot: the same building can then appear several times on the image whereas cards and characters disappear very quickly. The 15 meters exhibited at the B-312 Gallery represent about one minute of a 12-hour journey. The landscape stretches according to the space that is available, without the possibility to fully deploy it. 42 meters were insufficient at the Travelling exhibition in Lausanne in 2012.
This proposal offers an absurd and derisory answer to the standardization of new tools offered by Google, among others, and which modify the usual models of representing a territory. These tools model and generalize the representation of space and the world on a global scale. The project involves no objective filming of these places but a sensitive, subjective scan of an evolving, changing landscape that questions the notions of identity and belonging.
