Un travelling de 550 km

Ce projet est inclus dans le projet Migrateurs. Un véhicule couplé à un appareil de prise de vues et un GPS suit un parcours déterminé entre Rio de Janeiro et São Paulo enregistrant ainsi l’ensemble du paysage défilant. Il s’agit de créer un panorama de 550 kilomètres déployé sous la forme d’un ruban filmique. Le panorama, saisi dans le mouvement du véhicule, est mis à plat et synthétisé par une série d’images fixes qui défile de gauche à droite. Le film est un hommage aux dispositifs de précinéma comme par exemple les Moving Panoramas dont les paysages reproduits sur une toile peinte se déroulaient sur plusieurs kilomètres.
Il y a dans cette proposition une réponse absurde et dérisoire à la normalisation des nouveaux outils proposés, entre autres, par Google qui modifient les modèles de représentation du territoire. Ces outils modélisent et universalisent la représentation de l’espace et du monde à une échelle planétaire. Le projet consiste non pas en une prise de vues objective de ces territoires mais en un balayage sensible et subjectif de la réalité d’un paysage qui évolue, se transforme et interroge les notions d’identité et d’appartenance.

Réalisé dans une bonne résolution, le panorama est principalement destiné à l'impression sous la forme d’un long ruban photographique, créant à l'arrière-plan, l'idée d'un cinéma imprimé.

Sao Paulo - Rio de Janeiro is one of the works included in the Migratory project. A vehicle coupled to a filming device and a GPS follows a specified route between Sao Paulo, and Rio des Janeiro recording the entire landscape as it passes through. The idea is to create a 555 Km - long panorama deployed in the form of a filmic ribbon. The panorama captured as the vehicle moves along is laid out flat and synthesized by a series of still images scrolling from left to right. The film is a tribute to precinema devices such as for instance the Moving Panoramas, with landscapes reproduced on a painted canvas over several kilometres.
There is in this proposition an absurd and derisory answer to the standardization of the new tools proposed, among others, by Google which modify the models of representation of the territory. These tools model and generalize the representation of the space and the world in a global scale. The project involves no objective filming of these places but a sensitive, subjective scan of an evolving, changing landscape that questions notions of identity and belonging.
The panorama is mainly dedicated for the printing, under the shape of a long photographic ribbon, creating a printed cinema.
